- Frequency: Inspect your roof at least twice a year—once in the spring and once in the fall. You should also inspect it after any major storm or event.

- Gutter Cleaning: Keep gutters free of debris (like leaves, twigs, etc.) to prevent water from backing up under the roof shingles.
- Roof Cleaning: If you spot algae, moss, or dirt buildup, you can gently clean your roof using a soft-bristled brush and a roof-safe cleaning solution. Avoid using pressure washers, as they can damage shingles.
Tree branches can scrape against the roof, damaging shingles and creating debris buildup in the gutters. Trimming them regularly will minimize this risk.

Annual Professional Inspections: Even if you're diligent about checking the roof yourself, it's a good idea to have a professional roofer conduct an annual inspection to catch things you might have missed.
If your roof is near the end of its lifespan (20-30 years for asphalt shingles), you may need to replace it entirely. Major signs include widespread shingle damage, sagging, or leaking that can’t be repaired easily.
